Back again slightly less high with 7Like v1.1 i have changed a few things and finished the gnomenu most of everything i have done will get released have to go out and get some permissions first :P

Changed the theme from elementary to a elementary coloured Lucidity 2.3.1 [link] (using elementary emerald borders)
The reason for this is simple elementary is a nice theme but based on an old engine so it just does not have the roundness of this theme

Added a few minor things to conky and added a background to it looked alittle out of place without one

Panel bg by me went for a 7 like glassy look

Pretty good setup for what it's aiming for. Too bad Gnome can't do round menus yet- I really hope this comes in with GTK 3 so these themes can look more complete.

Thats something i have hated in gnome everything seems so square cant wait for gtk 3 hopefully it will be alot more advanced than it is now

Yeah, I like Gnome-Shell for the most part, they just need to fix a few things to make them easier and it will be a real improvement, and make themability simple (it already is pretty simple, actually). But I really hope they focus on the underlying technology more, making it easier to develop in GTK 3, making the technology more robust, adding ability to the theme engine, etc.

That's a big part of what has made KDE 4 so successful after it became stable- it's just incredibly mature and modern, from the technology to the themes to the engines to the customization models- it's all a very coherent and robust experience. Then they proceeded to optimize it.

While I don't think Gnome has to be remade from scratch, I think some things they've been planning to get rid of for a while should be scrapped, they should rewrite the bits that aren't working well, and add the subtle polish to bring it up to speed. Gnome is still comparable to Windows as a development platform and desktop environment- we need to blow past them, like KDE and Qt have done. Then people can't point to Linux and say it doesn't look and feel and code AWESOME. Then people will realize just how valuable open source software is.

Lol, sorry, had some software discussions over Thanksgiving dinner, so I'm a bit livid at the moment, lol.

you mean with the elementary theme eGTK?.
Your Desktop gives me some inspiration for elementary(OS)

Yea i dont mean anything bad against elementary i just dont like the engine it uses
